For the Body:
Another busy month and how time flies! We have officially entered winter and it is very chilly in the mornings – especially those early Saturday mornings starts for the kids and their favourite sport!!!
Swine flu is still a hot topic for all of us and I would encourage all of you to read a variety of sources about the flu and what it’s really all about so you can feel educated about what you are hearing on the news.
I would also stress that hygiene is the first line of defense against most illnesses. The other essential is to fortify your immune system – take some supplements and nourish your body with plenty of sleep, good food and water. A tough ask on some days I know!
BPA is a chemical that I want you all to learn about. It is featured in this newsletter for you, please read these articles and pass them onto your friends. Bisphenol-A is an endocrine disruptor, it mimics estrogen and causes genital issues in boys and adds to our chemical body burden.
Chemicals Can Disrupt Hormones
You may have read or heard lately about Bisphenol-A (BPA) and its many disturbing side effects. It was developed in the 30's as a synthetic estrogen, but is used mostly today in polycarbonate plastic. It's found in sunglasses, CD's and the fillings in your teeth, and is used to coat the inside of tin cans and make plastic shatterproof.
3 Suspect Plastics to Avoid in Water Bottles
Have you ever noticed the number on the bottom of your plastic bottle? This number can tell you the safety level of the plastic you are drinking from and why you may want to choose another!
For the Mind-Body Connection:
Have you ever stopped to think about all the little numbers that you see on ingredients lists and how they affect you? We all know how MSG can and does affect most people but did you know that it is hidden in all sorts of foods? The Chemical Maze is a shopping guide to help you sort out the additives and preservatives to avoid. It is small enough to carry with you and as well as having food ingredients it also lists all the nasty chemicals to avoid in your bathroom and cosmetics. I don’t go anywhere with out mine!!!!
On special this month for only $12.95
For the Soul:
Take a moment today and cherish your loved ones – I know it’s a cliché at times. A family at my child’s school lost their mother last week unexpectedly and of course the whole community is quite shaken, especially the family. What I came to realize is that you never know your last moment with someone so make every moment joyful and full of love.
Keep well, keep healthy, keep thriving!
